:I so badly wanted to be cool when I was a kid. Only in my later years did I realize what a ridiculous expectation that was. But I still can look at a yearbook or school photos and pick out the kids that I thought were cool. Such is life. Really enjoyed reading your latest column, Jamie!

Randy me too!! I wish I knew then what I know now...what is the expression--youth is wasted on the young? Thanks everyone for the kind comment...xoxo

Wow do I relate! I totally get the "getting old" thing too. But there is something that I thought went along with being old - feeling "grown up". When I was young I used to wonder what it was like to be the parent, the "grown-up." Now I am the parent but still never feel like I belong at the "grown-up" table. Is being a "grown-up" different than get old - or is it just me?

Jamie

No, thank YOU! That makes me feel good :)

U know what, I think the number one tell tale sign that I am getting old is this-I feel tired. Not in a 'it's the end of the day' kind of way. Most of the time I walk through the world a little tired, little calm. That is the number one tell-tale sign I am older now.

Jamie,

It's not "old", it's just the next chapter! The chapter where we have the privledge of balancing a life where we see things through 3 lenses, our childrens, our parents and our own. It's a special time when the worlds collide in our mental sub-consious. We call them things like memories and perspective, and oh shit moments so that we understand, but these are moments of pure innocence and understanding (or the lack of) and of discovery.

All the best to you, enjoy the experience!

I read this beautiful quote once, I can't remember it verbatim, but the gist was that we look back on the good old days and romanticize because they are far away, we can't see the drama from he, we can't feel the details that were a part of being young. I am totally cool with being old...and I assure you I say all this in gest. It's surreal to be where I am, but lovely...thanks my friend. Good to hear from you :)
